March 27, 2023Get motivated today to join the FDNY Youth EMS Academy (YEMSA). The application period to train in the Summer 2023 Cohorts is currently open. The program, which is held at our EMS Academy at Fort Totten, is a New York State EMT Basic Course that is offered to aspiring first responders ages 17-28.
The course will cover didactic and practical skills training in CPR, medical emergencies, trauma, childbirth, oxygen administration, hazardous materials, semi-automation defibrillation and more. At the completion of the course, the trainees will take their New York State EMT Basic Certification Exam.
