City Youth Train With New York’s Bravest
July 18, 2018Meet Military Outreach Coordinator Adam Lessuck
August 10, 2018O ur Fire Academy on Randall’s Island was bustling with Firefighter Exam #7001 Candidates last week as part of the latest round of our CPAT Training Program/Firefighter Candidate Mentorship Program Information Sessions.
Firefighter hopefuls not only learned about their upcoming hiring exams and our 18-week Academy, they also spent time speaking one-on-one with our members to become more informed about serving as one of New York’s Bravest. There were six sessions held in total and July 28 featured both a morning and afternoon session.
“We want to see our candidates attend CPAT Training each week because that is a great way for them to get ready for the DCAS CPAT Exam and we hope that they walked away from our Information Sessions with that important message,” said CPAT Training Program Coordinator David Lin. “Candidates who consistently come to our training increase their chances of passing the CPAT and they learn tips from our instructors about getting their bodies in shape so that they can start preparing months in advance for the Academy. It’s a great program and we’re looking forward to session launch day on August 6th.”
“Our Mentors have real-time information that will help their Mentees as they complete the hiring process and I think having a resource like this is advantageous for all of our candidates who are completing processing,” Firefighter Candidate Mentorship Program Coordinator Jéneen Gilliam added. “I always tell our candidates that this career is theirs for the taking, they just have to be very dedicated and work as hard as they can to join this great Department. Our Mentors are here to help them succeed and we look forward to seeing our candidates at the Mentor/Mentee barbecue on August 4th.”
