FDNY Women
S erving as a member of the FDNY means pride, respect and opportunity. Becoming one of the bravest women of the FDNY will give you an opportunity to show the world your passion for helping others. Through hard work and dedication, you will become a highly-skilled emergency first responder and leader in your community.
The importance of diversifying our workforce is a priority to the FDNY. Our Office of Recruitment and Retention continues to expand its strategies to attract and retain more qualified women in its uniform workforce than ever before. Our most recent Firefighter exam consisted of more women applicants than the last two exams combined. In addition, our EMS Trainee applicants were 35 percent women. #JoinFDNY
