March 31, 2020O ur Bureau of Fire Prevention consists of many units that assist in ensuring that safety laws are followed across the five boroughs of New York City. Today, meet Fire Protection Inspector Rafael Caraballo, who works in our Hazardous Cargo Vehicle Inspection Unit. Members of this specialized area lead efforts to enforce regulations for the tanks and cargo that are transported throughout the city.
“By working here for the FDNY, I’ve learned what it takes to keep our city streets safe and thanks to my training and the support of my peers, I’ve learned the importance of properly maintaining vehicles,” Caraballo said. “This is a great career because through our training, experience and service, we get to see how our work really helps to keep the public safe at all times. Growing up in New York City, I’ve always wanted to work for the FDNY and I’m glad to be here now helping the city.”
