Firefighter David Lee Helps to Break Down Barriers

Not only is FDNY Firefighter David Lee really passionate about his career, he also values that he can help to address language barriers with the public while he’s working each day at Engine 245 in Coney Island. Lee, who previously served in our Emergency Medical Service as a Paramedic, is fluent in English and Cantonese.

“I like helping people and working here is great because I get to make a difference in the lives of others,” he said. “Helping people while working here can also mean breaking down communication barriers because everyone does not speak the same language. I’m glad that I can help with that as well because it’s important.”
