Firefighter Hopefuls Train With New York’s Bravest Women
March 31, 2022Meet Brooklyn Firefighter Hermanos Manuel and Emmanuel Zuaznabar
April 10, 2022On this Flashback Friday, learn about FDNY Paramedics Peodulo Buhat and Dustin Carter, who recently courageously helped to disarm a knife wielding individual while they were serving at Station 8 in Manhattan.
“I enjoy working within the Department for many reasons. The people are friendly and welcoming and I’ve learned a lot from my mentors on the job,” said Buhat, who joined in 2020. “This is important work and there are tremendous opportunities available for everyone. They train you to work your way up the ranks.”
“This job is super unique and we’re here to help the people of the city no matter what,” added Carter, who joined in 2013. “When we’re working, it’s just me and my partner and the ambulance is literally our office.”
This past January, the two were flagged down by frantic civilians who alerted them that a bystander was struggling with another individual who was armed with a knife. The first responders quickly exited their ambulance and worked together to disarm the individual.
“It all happened very quickly, but we knew we had to help,” Buhat said.
“We’re thankful no one was seriously injured,” Carter added.
