“There are heroes all around us.” FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore’s call to action

During a wide ranging interview, Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore, a 31-year veteran of the FDNY, said she’s excited to share Department career paths with all New Yorkers.

“This is way more than a job. This is a calling. There are heroes all around us, and I think we’re going to put in a lot of work into trying to find them and bring them home to the FDNY,” Commissioner Bonsignore said.

“They don’t know that this is their home yet, we’re going to help them figure that out. We’re going to go to Coney Island, Flushing, Harlem, and everywhere else. And, we’re going to let them know that there is a place here for them.”

“I’m excited, it’s the thing I most love, is being out in the communities.”
