February 14, 2023As we join the world in getting ready for Super Bowl LVII on Feb. 12, we stopped by Bayside yesterday to chat with members of FDNY Bravest Football about the big game. Watch along as our players give their Super Bowl Sunday predictions. The reigning Fun City Bowl champs, who compete each year in a semi-pro league that includes 27 public service departments from around the country, also chimed in about their 2023 season. Firefighter Balzano: Everyone can expect 110 percent effort this season again. We treat our football program like we treat our jobs where we give it everything we got every day. We’re excited and we’re going to put in the work.

Probationary Firefighter Wilson: This is my first year on the team, so I’m looking forward to bringing energy and having fun and doing what I can to help our team out.
Firefighter Moody: It’s the same this season like every season. We’re putting in hard work, dedication and we’re going to continue to grow. Of course, we’re going to bring it and bring that energy and represent how we always represent. We’re very excited about the new season.
Join FDNY: The Kelce Brothers are playing against each another on Sunday, so we have a football family in the Super Bowl. You two are family as well, so tell us what’s it like being able to share your love for football with your cousin?
Probationary Firefighter Wilson: We are family, so it’s going to be a lot fun at every game we play. It’s exciting!
Firefighter Moody: It’s surreal actually and it’s a good feeling having ‘fam’ on the team and this job overall, so we’re looking forward to getting out there together and winning games this season.

EMT Payne: This season we’re going to put in the hard work and step on the field each game to give a 1000 percent. We’re four years in a row Fun City Bowl champs and we’re going to step up and get that win again this year.
