June 20, 2021“Our organization is here to help the community and provide support to the LGBTQ members of this Department and we continue to network and grow, which is very important. Pride Month is a time to celebrate together, but also a time to reflect on how far we have come as a community,” said Firefighter and FireFlag/EMS Recording Secretary Tom Incorvaia.
In April, the affiliated organization celebrated its 30th Anniversary and members will be recognized for their continuous efforts to help the LGBTQ+ community during our Pride Month Celebration on June 23 at the New York City Fire Museum. Since its inception, the organization has been dedicated to uniting, empowering and protecting the interests and general well-being of LGBTQ+ Fire and EMS Officers, Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs of the greater New York area and their allies.

Members of the FDNY FireFlag/EMS march in parades across to city to help celebrate Pride Month and show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
“We’re pretty grateful to the Department for honoring us and helping us celebrate thirty years,” Incorvaia added. “We’ve been able to help the community in so many ways and have a lot fun together along the way, so it’s nice that we will get to come together and celebrate our anniversary.”
FDNY Affiliated Organizations assist in strengthening the Department’s ongoing partnership with uniformed members and the community while also leading education, training and heritage initiatives. Learn more about them today here.
