July 17, 2025Congratulations to the Captain Vernon A. Richard High School for Fire and Life Safety Class of 2025 that graduated during a ceremony held Friday, June 27, 2025, at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randall’s Island — where many FDNY careers begin.
“Each year, we continue to graduate students who, like you, are interested in careers in public service and public safety,” First Deputy Commissioner Mark Guerra said. “The skills you have learned over these last four years have helped you grow and learn as students and as people. These lessons will prepare you for life after high school.”
The Class of 2025 marks the 18th graduating class of the FDNY High School, which has consistently launched students into careers in public service. To date, nearly 300 high school alumni have earned their New York State EMT Certification through the Youth EMS Academy, and more than 100 graduates have gone on to join the FDNY.
Located in Brooklyn, the Captain Vernon A. Richard High School for Fire and Life Safety was created to inspire and prepare students for careers with the FDNY.

Congratulations to the Captain Vernon A. Richard High School for Fire and Life Safety Class of 2025!
