Meet the Women of the FDNY EMS Pipes and Drums Band
March 8, 2021Exam #7001 Candidates: Keep Training, It’s Worth the Wait
March 22, 2021On this Throwback Thursday, we’re catching up with former Proby of the Month Engine 277 Firefighter Gregory Jones Jr. Since he was featured on Join FDNY in 2014, he has become a father of two, and has cross trained to help with fire operations in various capacities.
“This is truly one of the best jobs anyone could ask for and it requires a certain level of passion. Whether I’m working in the firehouse, or out in the community recruiting, my experience on this job has been life changing,” he said. “This is not a job where you punch in and punch out, it’s almost like a calling. I’ve made one of the best decisions of my life applying to take the test.”
In addition, Jones uses his story and work in our Office of Recruitment and Retention to pay it forward to current Firefighter Candidates and help them properly prepare to join our Department.
“I think our candidates should remember to trust the process and keep at it. I encourage everyone to go for it and don’t let anything stop you,” he said. “Don’t pass up on this job, if you see yourself doing this work, put yourself in the position to excel and make the best of your work here.”
