Join the FDNY throughout the next few weeks in celebrating Black History Month. As part of our recognition, we’re paying tribute to our members who continue to make important contributions to our Department and the communities they serve. Today, you get to learn about Firefighter Jackie-Michelle Martinez, one of our highly-trained first responders at Squad 270 in Queens. She’s currently one of six woman Firefighters working in our Special Operations Command, which is a team of experienced fire suppression specialists who respond to unique and highly critical situations throughout New York City. In 2015, she also made history in our Department as the first Women’s Outreach Coordinator.
