“Tonight, is celebration of pride, but it’s also a celebration of the 30th anniversary of FireFlag. FireFlag is a group that not only helps and cares for New Yorkers, they also support the FDNY’s LGBTQ members and serve as role models in the community. They have helped bring about great change in our Department, they continue to demonstrate the best attributes of bravery, and they are an integral part of the inclusion that makes the FDNY such a special place. I want to thank all the members of FireFlag for their service and dedication each and every day, especially during this difficult year that we’ve experienced,” said FDNY First Deputy Commissioner Laura Kavanagh at the annual FDNY LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration, which took place this evening at the New York City Fire Museum in Manhattan. At the event, the Department honored the FDNY FireFLAG’s 30th Anniversary.
