Meet Auto Mechanic Eshwar Singh

“In my personal opinion, the FDNY is the best agency to work for. You can always see them and hear them in the communities, whether it’s a fire truck or an ambulance, they are always providing the best care possible,” said Auto Mechanic Eshwar Singh, who works at our Fleet Services in Long Island City.

Singh, who was born in Guyana and who grew up in Jamaica, Queens, has been working in our Fleet Services since 2015. He currently helps to make sure our ambulances stay ready for the road.

Singh grew up in Jamaica, Queens and is now helping the city each day as one of the mechanics in our shops.

“I worked at an independent mechanic shop that did not provide me with any health benefits. While searching for jobs online, an application to become a mechanic with the Fire Department came across my screen and after reading up on the great benefits and pay, I decided to go for it,” he explained. “The work environment here is amazing. The years of experience between us keeps us always ready and willing to learn. I’ve been around other mechanics who have up to 40 years on the job. We always say in the Fleet Division, you cannot know everything. Everyone has something that they can bring to the table that can ultimately make you a better mechanic.
